Fantasy Hand prints at Brampton Museum

Another successful art class!

What a lovely Friday we had this July when I held my first ever art class at the wonderfully historic Brampton Museum! I just want to begin by saying a huge thank you to Elise who helped me with the entire process of booking a room and running the class, advertising and being an all round top person to work with. You’re ace!

So we started off the day with my partner and friend helping me set up in the Red Room, a historically important room at The Brampton Museum that used to be the place for all the fancy dinners and tea parties. It’s a gorgeous room with a huge oval table and several brilliant pieces of artwork hung on the walls. The room was so pretty! A little warm, but we got a fan in there and it became very cozy.

A total of 16 wonderful individuals came and participated in my first public art class, and I couldn’t have asked for a better crowd. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, polite, and got stuck in with the class as soon as I gave the green light.

We started the class with a game of pictionary, and by dragging up several people to draw out some prompts we got the room ready to make some cool art.

If you haven’t already, take a few minutes to read my blog post about my first time running this session with The Princes Trust! It was earlier this year, and gave me a wonderful starting point to help people create mindfulness art in a safe environment.

We started to get messy with the paint and made some fabulous hand prints, and one of the best parts about this session is that each print is unique. There are no two the same! You may see something like a medieval castle in your first print, and a garden of lilies in your second. It’s all about interpretation, luck, and imagination. And if you don’t see anything, that’s completely fine too! We had a ‘no excuses’ jar on hand with a whole bunch of ideas ready and waiting to be picked.

I love running this session so much, because I adore watching people create. The concentration, the mindfulness, the zen on everyone’s faces. It’s incredible to watch people put thought to paper, using this print that they created as a basis for incredible art work.

And we got so many cool pieces of work out of this session too! Check out all the art below to see what these wonderful people came up with!

As always, loves,

Stay Creative!
